This quaint home is situated 9 miles from Atenas or 1 hour from the international airport and 1 hour 15 minutes from downtown San Jose.

Location is everything and this "quinta" has it. Shortly, a new route to the beaches from San Jose will reduce travel time to San Jose to 40 minutes and the beach to 30 minutes. A taxi ride to Atenas costs $6.00 US picked up at your door.

It is perched at the end of a rolling knoll in the Athenian hills at approximately 700 meters or 2200 feet above sea level.  It offers awesome sunsets, gentle breezes (sometimes a wee bit stronger) which roll down through the valleys on their way to the ocean or in off the Pacific depending on the time of year, killer mountain views and of course the awesome Pacific Ocean in the distance.  If you want a place to relax and get away from it all then this can be your escape from the world. The birds are constantly filling the air with the sweet music of their varied songs.

This small typical, (except for the colors) minimally furnished Costa Rican cement home consists of two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bath and front porch. Electricity and town water of course. One can connect to the internet 400 yards down the road at the only phone in the entire village ( I use it regularly). Phone line installation has been assured for the year 2001.  Keep in touch with the office if desired or forget all about them. The choice is yours.

The home sits on 4 acres of hilly land covered with many orange trees, coffee and primary forest. It overlooks both coffee and sugar cane plantations. You can sit here looking at the mountains and ocean and get caught up on your work or relax and forget about your work. I do both so I can sympathize with both extremes. It is a beautiful place to relax but it is also a great place to work.

Absolutely the most comfortable temperature you could find anywhere (according to NASA and I definitely concur). A good cup of coffee and I can spend hours checking out the different birds or working on the computer up here. It is also very easy to fall into the trap of the horrid hammock routine, hour after hour stretched out reading a good book.

Days drift into evenings. The evenings are short and sweet offering spectacular sunsets on a very regular basis and glorious perfumes from a variety of exotic plants. The moon slowly passes overhead while the stars illuminate your surroundings like something out of a storybook. This is definitely a sweet little paradise.

A single person, a couple or a small family can have a great get-away retreat at very reasonable rates, within close proximity to national parks, volcanoes, beaches, city excitement or whatever you are looking for.

The house rents for a minimum of one week.

1 week is $250.00 US with an additional $250.00 US deposit refundable upon leaving the home in the condition in which it was rented to you.

1 month is $600.00 with an additional $250.00 US deposit refundable upon leaving the home in the condition in which it was rented to you.

We are willing to discuss other time periods particularly suited to your needs.
